Students walking down the street in London

Our London Campus will help us fulfil our ambitious commitment to become the top modern university in the UK, and one of the top 100 young universities in the world, by 2030.

Based in the London Borough of Waltham Forest in north east London, the campus will extend our reach and reputation in the capital city by moving into an area of growing demand and population growth, especially amongst the 18-24 age range who are most likely to consider university.

Why Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest was carefully selected as a borough that reflects our values, including a strong commitment to access to higher education for everyone regardless of their background.

It is the only north east London borough without a Higher Education Institute. As the first London Borough of Culture, it is also an eclectic area attractive to students with excellent transport links.

Our campus and courses

The campus is a three-way partnership between the University, education investment developers Northchild and the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

We will offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as work-based learning opportunities in the form of apprenticeships and flexible continuous learning programmes, all designed with the skills and needs of local people and businesses in mind.

Our first postgraduate students will be welcomed in May 2024, occupying two floors in Juniper House near Walthamstow Central Station, with our first undergraduate students joining us in September 2024.

The number of students will grow steadily over the next few years as more courses are added and a main purpose-built teaching building, Central House, is developed next to Juniper House to open in 2027. Our aim is to build capacity for over 5,000 students by 2028/29.

It’s estimated that the new campus will boost the borough’s economy by up to £372 million over the next 20 years, with benefits to local supply chains, research opportunities for local businesses, the creation of over 500 new local jobs and more.
