Ambition

The University’s ambition of becoming the Top Modern UK University requires it to maximise the use of Digital and Information to achieve that aim and also to have the best Digital facilities that are fitting of the Top Modern UK University. A key enabler in obtaining our Mission, Vision and Strategy is to ‘Innovate through digital technologies’.

Our five-year Digital Transformation Plan denotes the stepping stones needed to ensure that key enabler can thrive and subsequently support our Mission, Vision and Strategy.

This plan will provide a direction of travel towards agreed goals. It will bring coordination to digital investment to achieve these goals. It will lead the organisation to a digital eco-system which will deliver an integrated and seamless user experience and unified data that can be accessed and analysed by various applications and users.  It will avoid the duplication of systems, facilities and processes. It will lead to investment in the foundations of our digital approach but also to start a new innovative approach to digital.  It will provide financial clarity over the investments needed. It will complement the other plans such as the Success Plan for Teaching and Learning and the Estates Masterplan.

What is the Digital Transformation Plan's mission? 

The Digital Transformation Plan's mission is to provide a personalised, intuitive and integrated digital experience that will enable creativity, innovation and collaboration for learning, teaching, co-creation and research. The plan will deliver efficient and effective business solutions supported by excellent user experiences enabling us to provide future-focused, life changing experiences for students, staff and our community.

Why have we created the Digital Transformation Plan? 

The Digital Transformation Plan will transform the way the University of Portsmouth works by making it fit for the future, and by removing challenges to our digital success. Improving how we do digital will improve the experience of our students, staff and partners.

How are we executing the Digital Transformation Plan?

This will be achieved through delivering a number of goals:

  • Creating a digitally distinctive experience
  • Delivering reliable, resilient, adaptable and expandable digital foundations
  • Empowering digitally fluent staff and students
  • Unlocking time by developing effective and efficient processes and systems
  • Understanding the importance of our data and information and maximising its value through high quality unified data and data insight tools
